Arthur Jack products are made in England by artisan metal craftsmen. They are the result of a great deal of research by a couple of keen gardeners, who were unable to find exactly what they wanted for their own garden. Our products are made in a workshop based in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, making galvanised steel garden products by hand. Our range includes planters, water butts, window boxes, obelisks, boot scrapers, boot washers, water features and firepits — each one individually formed, finished and despatched from our workshop in Bedfordshire.
We don’t use automated production lines or outsource manufacturing. Every product that leaves us has been cut, formed, soldered and finished by hand. That’s not a marketing claim — it’s a practical constraint of working with heavy-gauge steel and traditional forming techniques, and it’s what gives our products their weight and longevity.
In 2018, Arthur Jack was recognised as a finalist for Garden Product of the Year at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show — one of the most rigorous independent assessments of garden products in the UK. We’re proud of that recognition and it reflects the standard we hold ourselves to.
We work with galvanised steel because it genuinely lasts. Hot-dip galvanising bonds a layer of zinc to the steel surface at a molecular level — it doesn’t chip, peel or fade the way painted or powder-coated finishes can. In the UK climate, a properly made galvanised steel planter or water water butt should outlast anything made from plastic or fibreglass.
Our products are designed in the Georgian style — proportions and profiles drawn from historic lead cisterns and garden ornaments. They sit naturally in both traditional and contemporary settings.
